How to Find Business Records in Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State Business Records
There are a variety of way to get business records for entities
registered in Oklahoma. One of the easiest (since you can do it from
home) and the cheapest (since it is free) ways is to use the Oklahoma
Secretary of State�s searchable database. You can do this by following
the simple steps below.
How to Search For Oklahoma State Business Records
1. Begin your Oklahoma business records search by visiting the Oklahoma
Secretary of State�s website, located at
http://www.sos.state.ok.us/
2. Once on the homepage, you will see a horizontal site menu across the
top of the page -- this site menu will be located directly underneath
the page header. You will see several tabs, including one labeled
�Sooner Access�, which is the link you need to select. It will be the
second tab from left side of the page.
3. Once on the access page, you will see three different categories,
each with their own list of links below them. The three categories are:
�Business Entities�, �Trademark�, and �Notary�. You need to choose the
�Business Entities� section. Below this section heading, you need to
click on the �Entity Search� link -- this link will be the second one
down in the �Business Entities� section.
4. Once on the �Business Entities� page, you will have eight search
choices to select from: Column 1 will have the �Search Active�, �Search
Banks�, �Search Churches�, and �Search Domestic Cooperatives� options.
Column 2 will have the �Search All�, �Search for Registered Agent�,
�Search by Name of Person�, and �Filing Number Search� options.
Search Active - this option will search for all active businesses in
Oklahoma, both foreign and domestic.
Search Banks - this option will search for all active and inactive banks
in Oklahoma.
Search Churches - this option will search for all active churches in
Oklahoma.
Search Domestic Cooperatives - this option will search for all active
domestic cooperatives in Oklahoma.
Search All - this option will search for all active and inactive
businesses in Oklahoma, both foreign and domestic.
Search for Registered Agent - this option will search for all active and
inactive businesses in Oklahoma, both foreign and domestic, that are
under a particular registered agent�s name.
Search by Name of Person - this option will search for all active
businesses in Oklahoma, both foreign and domestic, that are affiliated
with the selected name.
Filing Number Search - this option will give you your most focused
search results -- since all businesses, name reservations, and
registered agents are given a unique number. This option will search for
all entities, name reservations, or registered agents in Oklahoma that
are assigned to the number you selected.
5. All of these search options will take you to a search form where you
can enter the name -- or part of the name -- of the entity, person, or
registered agent you are looking for. Some of these forms will also give
you a choice to select a city within Oklahoma to search.
6. Your search results will include any registered businesses in
Oklahoma that match your search query. Each search result will list the
entity�s filing number, their name, their entity type (foreign for
profit business corporation, domestic LLC, domestic trade name entity,
etc), the name type (legal, trade name, etc), the registered agent�s
name and address, and the effective date.
From here you do have the option of clicking on the filing number to
obtain a more detailed file, but this will cost you $5 per search for up
to 3 records. Most of the basic information you would need on an
Oklahoma entity can be obtained within the search results listing. If
